Hot breakfast in the hotel, our vehicle will pick you up from the hotel and head towards todays destination. Firstly we will visit Pharping area. Pharping is located 19 km south of Kathmandu which is ethnically rich and prosperous Newai town which is identified with the sacred site of Hinduism and Buddhism. At this very place Guru Rimpoche, Padmasambhava, also known as lotus born God, attained the level of a Mahamudra Vidyadhara. This site is visited by many Buddhist devotees as this sites holds ancient history of such attainment. At Pharping you can see many Buddhist monasteries, Shes Narayan Temple, Goraknath Temple, Bajra Yogini Temple and The Cave where Guru Padmasambhava meditated.
We can also visit Chobar Gorge and Taudha Pond which lies on the way to Pharping. There is a legend that Chobar George was formed when Buddhist deity Manjushree chopped out the hill with single blow of her mighty sword releasing all the collected water in the now valley.
After exploring the surrounding we will head to Dakshinkali Temple. The temple lies on downhill south side of Pharping. This temple is dedicated to Kali, incarnation of Goddess Parvati. The name Dakshinkali is composed of two words “Dakshin” which means “South” & “Kali” which means “Black Female”. This refers to the position and deity of the temple which is The Black Female Goddess of south. As this temple is dedicated to Kali, one of the most ferocious manifestations of Goddess Parvati. Every Saturday the temple is crowded with pilgrims and their animals brought to sacrifice. We explore around the surrounding area then head back to Kathmandu.
